Katerina Guillermo was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and now currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri. Katerina's art journey began as early as Elementary school when she would draw on her notes and corners of her homework pages. Her interest in art is an ever-evolving process that changes alongside her throughout life. Most of the imagery in her work is inspired by personal experiences that she has personally gone through discovering herself through experimenting with sexuality and identity. Katerina uses all forms of media to inspire her work, from traditional drawings to printmaking and recently she has been experimenting within the NFT space. The current interest in NFT art will encourage her audience to no longer be voyeurs but possibly become participants within the art-making process.

 

Artist Statement

My work fixates on sexuality and its different forms. With a combination of mixed media and storytelling, I can create installations, prints, and digital works that not only allow my audience to be immersed in the narrative but also become better educated on the subject matter. My works encapsulate intimate views into the subject’s most vulnerable desires, needs, and experiences. Sexuality for my subjects is used as a means of escape from the confines of an overbearing patriarchal society. My audience will be able to venture and explore their own sexuality when encountering my artwork.
